Register pages

Why a page exists before anyone claims it, what is on it, and how to have it removed.

Status

Draft structure, not in force, and the mechanism it describes has not been switched on. The facts below are how it is built and were checked on 11 September 2026. The lawful basis has not been determined and no register page will be published until it is.

Not open yet

Affirmat is opening in Ireland first, and it is not open yet. Nothing on this site can be signed into, searched or put up today.

There is no waiting list and no sign-up: this page asks for nothing, not even an email address. It is here so what is being built can be read and held to.

Everything below is built and tested. None of it has yet met a phone network, a customer or a bill.

Why the page exists

Four public registers list trades operating in Ireland. A page on Affirmat can be created from one of those listings so that a customer searching for an electrician in their area finds something true rather than nothing, and so that the business can take the page over in one step instead of starting from a blank form.

Safe Electric
Registered electrical contractors
RGI
Registered gas installers
CIRI
The construction industry register, becoming mandatory in phases
SIMI
Motor industry members

What is on an unclaimed page, and what is not

An unclaimed page carries only what the register printed: the business name as the register spells it, the trade, the county, and the registration number. Every page records which register it came from and the exact page it was taken from, so its source can be checked.

It carries no jobs, no photographs, no ratings and no scores, because it has none. Nothing on it is a judgement by Affirmat about the business. It is not a recommendation and it is not a verification: a page created this way is marked as unclaimed until somebody claims it, and only a claimed business can log work.

It carries no contact details beyond whatever the register itself publishes.

Claiming a page

If the business is yours, claiming it makes it yours to edit and to log work against. The registration number on the page is checked against the register before the page changes standing.

[FOR SOLICITOR: what a claimant must be asked to confirm, and what they are agreeing to by claiming a page that was published without their involvement]

Requesting removal

A page can be taken down on request. The removal is recorded with its reason so that a later re-import of the register does not quietly put the page back.

Not drafted

[FOR SOLICITOR: the removal procedure: who may request it, what response time is committed to, and whether the request needs any verification at all — given that requiring somebody to prove their identity in order to have their own name taken down is itself a problem. See section 6.2 of the solicitor brief]

The lawful basis

Many of these listings are sole traders, so a register entry is information about a named individual. Republishing it on an indexable page, at scale, without having asked, needs a basis that has not yet been established.

Not drafted

[FOR SOLICITOR: the lawful basis for publishing seeded register pages, and the legitimate interests assessment behind it — one that survives the fact that the publication is at scale, is indexable, and is commercially useful to Affirmat]

Not drafted

[FOR SOLICITOR: whether the four registers differ. They publish under different regimes and different terms of use, and those terms may restrict bulk reuse independently of data protection. CIRI becoming mandatory in phases during 2026 may change the analysis for that register specifically]

Not drafted

[FOR SOLICITOR: what notice is owed when the information was not collected from the person it is about, when it must be given, and whether the banner above together with this page discharges that — or whether the individual must be told directly]

Not drafted

[FOR SOLICITOR: whether scraping and republishing from these four registers is defensible in itself, separately from the data-protection question. This is checklist item 21 and nothing is published until it is answered]
