Delete account
How to delete your account
Ask for your AffirmAT account to be deleted from inside it. No email to anyone and no reason to give.
How to ask
- Sign in to the account you want to delete.
- A customer opens Account, then Delete account. A tradesperson opens the console, then Settings, then Delete account. In the app, open Account and press Delete account: it brings you back to this page.
- Read what is deleted and what stays, type the word delete and press Delete my account.
You give no reason and nobody has to approve it. The page that deletes it is:
What is deleted
A customer
- Your name, your phone number and your email address.
- Every phone and browser you are signed in on.
- Your links to your homes and vehicles, and the reminders on them.
- Anything you asked a business for that is still open, and the photographs you sent us.
- A comment or a note you wrote that carries your name, a phone number, an email address or an address.
A tradesperson
- Your name, your phone number and your email address.
- Your profile page, the picture drawn from it for sharing, your photographs on it and your identity document if we hold one.
- Your qualifications and any invitations to your number or address.
- Every phone and browser you are signed in on, and the phones you captured with.
What stays, and why
A confirmed job is a record that more than one person relies on: the business, the household whose home it was done in, and the person who did it. None of them can delete another’s copy, so deleting an account takes the name and the contact details off the record and does not remove the work.
A customer
- Every confirmed job stays on the business’s ledger and on its public record. It reads “A client” where it carried your name.
- The ratings you gave stay with the business they were given to.
- A comment you left stays, in your words, unless it carries personal detail, which is removed.
- The photographs of the work stay. They are taken off public cards, so nobody sees them there, and the business keeps its own copy.
- The address of a home and the registration of a vehicle stay on that home’s or vehicle’s own record, because it outlives its owner and the next owner’s logbook is built on it. Your name is not on it.
A tradesperson
- Every job you did stays on the business’s ledger, on the public record and in the customer’s logbook. It reads “A former member of the team” where it carried your name.
- The photographs you took stay on those jobs.
- The business’s numbers do not change: a job count is computed from the jobs, and nobody can edit it.
- If you were on the business’s team, the business keeps its history of who worked there, as dates, with no name.
If you are the only owner of a business, the business is deleted with you. Its page and its job pages stop working, its team loses access, and its insurance, certificates and other papers are deleted. The customers you worked for keep their logbooks.
This deletes only the account you are signed in to. A trade account or a customer logbook on the same number or email is a separate account, and stays until you delete it too.
When it happens
- Your account closes when you confirm: you are signed out everywhere.
- It is deleted 7 days later. Sign in before then and nothing is deleted.
- After that it cannot be undone. If you come back you start again with nothing.
You get a message when you ask, saying the day it happens, and, if we still have a way to reach you, one when it is done. Before you confirm, the page offers a copy of your logbook or your ledger as a file. The 7 days are there so a slip can be undone: sign in again and the request ends.
