Trouble confirming a job

A confirmation link goes to the number or address the business holds for you. Here is what each thing that can go wrong means, and what to do about it.

Not open yet

Affirmat is opening in Ireland first, and it is not open yet. Nothing on this site can be signed into, searched or put up today.

There is no waiting list and no sign-up: this page asks for nothing, not even an email address. It is here so what is being built can be read and held to.

Everything below is built and tested. None of it has yet met a phone network, a customer or a bill.

No confirmation link can exist yet, because no job has been logged on Affirmat. It is here for the day a link exists, and it sets out what each thing that can go wrong will mean.

What happened

  1. The link has expiredA confirmation link lasts 30 days from the day the job was marked done. Ask the business to send it again. If it is past 30 days the job stays logged, and a logged job counts towards nothing.
  2. The link says it has already been usedA job is confirmed once. If somebody else in the house answered it first, that is the confirmation, and the page shows what they said.
  3. You are not the person who paidEither of you can confirm. The page asks which you are — the person who paid, or the person who lives there — and records the answer beside the confirmation.
  4. The text never arrivedThe business can send it again, at most 3 times and not more often than once every 48 hours. Check the number they hold for you first. Affirmat never shows a phone number in full, so ask them to read it back.
  5. Something in the job is wrongConfirm what happened and raise a snag on the same page, or answer that it did not happen and say why. Do not confirm a job you do not recognise.

Nobody can confirm it for you

The business cannot confirm its own job. Affirmat checks the number or address that answers against the owner, the staff and every phone and email on the team, and refuses a match. If a business asks you to send them the link, do not: the link is how the record is made, and a record made by the business about itself is worth nothing.

If the job did not happen

Say so on the same page. The business is asked to reply, both statements are published, and a person at Affirmat decides whether the record stands. What Affirmat decides is whether the record is right — not who owes what. For customers sets out snags, callbacks and disputes in full.
